Bhopal: In a remarkable display of grit and determination, Aditya, a young talent from Dhar Drumka village in Kangra district, brought laurels to his region and school by clinching the bronze medal at the National Judo Championship (Under-19, 66 kg category) held in Bhopal.
Currently a Class 10 student at PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Paprola (Kangra), Aditya showcased his potential on the national stage, competing against some of the finest young judokas from across the country. The championship was hosted in Ratibad, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, from August 22 to 24, 2025.
Aditya’s journey to the nationals has been equally inspiring. Prior to the Bhopal event, he participated in the selection trials held at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Pojewal in Nawanshahr district of Punjab. There, he secured first position in his weight category, earning him the coveted opportunity to represent at the national level. His consistent performance and competitive spirit paved the way for this latest achievement.
Speaking after his victory, Aditya credited his success to the unwavering support and guidance of his school principal and teachers. “It is because of their blessings, mentorship, and encouragement that I was able to achieve this milestone,” he said with humility, adding that he hopes to continue excelling in the sport and bring more glory to his village and state.
The bronze medal win not only highlights Aditya’s individual talent but also shines a light on the growing sporting culture in Himachal Pradesh’s rural areas, where students are increasingly making a mark at national-level competitions. His achievement is being widely celebrated by his school, peers, and villagers, who see him as a role model for aspiring young athletes.
With this success, Aditya has set a strong foundation for future competitions. If nurtured with the right training and exposure, he is expected to scale greater heights in Indian judo.
