New Delhi, 14 December 2024: A delegation of Members of Parliament (MPs), led by former Union Minister and Hamirpur MP Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, met with Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla to formally invite him as the Chief Guest for a friendly cricket match aimed at raising awareness about Tuberculosis (TB). The match, featuring MPs from various political parties, is scheduled for 15 December 2024 at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi.
Shri Om Birla graciously accepted the invitation and assured his presence at the event. The 20-over cricket match, aptly titled TB Mukt Bharat Awareness Cricket Match, is part of the ongoing efforts to spread awareness about India’s mission to eradicate TB. The game will begin at 9:00 AM and will be telecast live on Doordarshan Sports and Sansad TV, ensuring wider reach to the public.
The match will see two teams—Lok Sabha Speaker XI and Rajya Sabha Chairman XI—competing in a spirit of camaraderie and unity. Shri Anurag Singh Thakur will captain the Lok Sabha Speaker XI, while Shri Kiren Rijiju will lead the Rajya Sabha Chairman XI.
