BJP MLA Sudhir Sharma, once a prominent Congress leader and now a fierce critic of Chief Minister Sudhir Sharma, made headlines during a debate on corruption in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly. He narrated a provocative story of a bull and a farmer, symbolically addressing corruption and unethical practices.
The story depicted a farmer consuming “gobar” (dung) and rising to prominence, only to be later shot by the landowner. Sharma explained the moral: “Bullshit can take you to the top, but it can’t make you stay there.” His statement, delivered with flair, caught the attention of all present, including visibly uneasy Congress members.
During his speech, Sharma named individuals allegedly involved in corrupt practices. He accused Rajeev Singh of illegal mining activities and linked Sudershan Singh, Ajay Kumar, and Rajinder Rana to questionable land transactions involving crores of rupees in connection with the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC).
Sharma also highlighted a specific incident where, just a day before a notification regarding captive crushers was issued, a prominent leader allegedly escorted an individual to the Secretariat. He pointed out that the agencies are investigating the matter, and the individual has been arrested.
In a direct attack, Sharma questioned the involvement of someone from the Chief Minister’s home constituency in the sale of approximately 700 kanals of land. “Is it permissible for anyone to hold such a large amount of land?” he asked, raising concerns about adherence to land laws and governance in the state.
The debate left the Assembly in a stir, with Congress members visibly uncomfortable and BJP legislators backing Sharma’s claims. The MLA’s fiery narrative underscored his commitment to exposing corruption, regardless of political affiliations.
