Dehradoon: A massive avalanche struck the border village of Mana in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, burying a Border Roads Organisation (BRO) camp and trapping over 50 workers under the snow.
The camp, located between Mana and Badrinath, was completely covered by the avalanche. Following the incident, Indian Army and ITBP personnel rushed to the site to carry out rescue operations.
Incident on National Highway, Heavy Snowfall the Cause
The disaster occurred on the national highway connecting Mana to Ghastoli. Officials stated that the avalanche hit the Badrinath Dham area after heavy snowfall in the morning. Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari has directed officials to clear blocked roads and restore power supply by repairing damaged power lines.

Rescue Operation Underway, 16 Workers Rescued So Far
Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), district administration, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and BRO are actively engaged in rescue operations.
According to Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Suman, 16 workers have been rescued safely, while efforts are ongoing to evacuate 41 others. The administration is working swiftly to save as many lives as possible.
