The Chief Minister urged the Union Minister to increase Himachal’s annual allocation under the National Health Mission (NHM) by Rs 200 crore in the upcoming financial year to help strengthen healthcare facilities across the state.

Sukhu also requested early approval for the establishment of three dedicated Intensive Care Units (ICUs) to improve treatment for patients suffering from critical illnesses.

Sukhu cites state’s difficult terrain, limited resources

Citing the state’s difficult terrain and limited resources, Sukhu appealed to the Centre to maintain the 90:10 funding ratio for Himachal Pradesh under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, similar to other hill states.

The Chief Minister also apprised Nadda of the extensive damage caused by natural calamities in Himachal this year and briefed him on the ongoing relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction measures being undertaken by the state government. He sought central support for rebuilding damaged infrastructure and for the rehabilitation of disaster-affected families.

Request to raise borrowing limit

During the meeting, Sukhu also requested the Union Health Minister to take up the matter of raising the State’s borrowing limit by 2 per cent with the Union Finance Minister, saying this would provide fiscal space for development projects and recovery efforts.

Nadda assured the Chief Minister that the requests would be considered on priority and appreciated the state government’s efforts to improve healthcare delivery systems. He also reaffirmed his commitment to support Himachal Pradesh, his home state, in its development initiatives.
