Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has criticised the Centre over its continued silence on providing a special relief package to the disaster-hit state.
In an emotional post shared on his verified social media handle, the Chief Minister expressed deep anguish over the plight of thousands of affected families who have lost their homes, livelihoods and loved ones in the recent calamities.
“Our people have been devastated by the disaster — homes have been swept away and lives shattered. But unfortunately, no special relief package has come from the Centre so far. When the blow of time is the heaviest, waiting for relief becomes even more painful,” Sukhu wrote.
The Chief Minister emphasised that despite limited resources, the state government has made consistent efforts to provide timely help to every affected family. He underlined the importance of immediate assistance, saying, “Relief received on time is the only real relief.”
Sukhu further questioned the Centre’s silence, stating, “Now, when the grief of the people is touching the skies, whose service is this silence serving? Will disaster too be weighed on the scales of politics?”
Reiterating his demand, the Chief Minister appealed to the Centre to act without delay and immediately release a special disaster relief package for Himachal Pradesh. “We once again urge the Centre not to delay it anymore and announce the special relief package at once.”
The Chief Minister’s sharp remarks come at a time when Himachal Pradesh continues to reel under the impact of incessant rains, flashfloods and landslides that have caused massive loss of life and property across districts.
