A delegation of the All India Valmiki Mahasabha, Chamba District, led by President Mukesh Kumar, met the Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Kavindra Gupta, today in Dalhousie. The delegation included representatives from the Valmiki Charitable Society, Valmiki Dalhousie Youth Club, and other community leaders.
During the meeting, the delegation submitted a memorandum expressing deep concern and outrage over the alleged incident in Barnala, Punjab, where unarmed members of the Valmiki community were reportedly subjected to police lathi‑charge, leaving several injured, including women. The representatives strongly condemned the incident, calling it “highly deplorable” and said such actions create fear and insecurity in society.
The memorandum demanded a fair and high‑level investigation, specifically urging for a CBI probe to uncover the truth and ensure strict action against those responsible. The delegation also questioned why the Valmiki community was being singled out in such incidents.
Members of the Valmiki community in Chamba district have also condemned the incident and demanded stringent punishment for the culprits.
Governor Gupta listened to the concerns seriously and assured the delegation that their issues would be forwarded to the appropriate authorities for consideration.
Among those present were Arun Atwal, Ashish Bains, Kartik Bains, Atul Hans, Robin Bains, Vijay Parwah, and Sahil Pamma, along with other dignitaries.
