US Vice-President JD Vance, wife Usha to visit this Himachal town during India tour

MANDI: US Vice-President JD Vance and his Indian-origin wife Usha Vance will be visiting Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla during their India tour later this month. This will be Vance’s second international tour as Vice-President, following his visit to France and Germany in February.

As part of their India itinerary, the Vice-President’s visit to the picturesque Queen of Hills Shimla is proposed. In light of the high-profile visit, a delegation from the US Embassy conducted a thorough inspection of security arrangements in Shimla.

The team closely examined the security setup at the historic Ridge Ground and other key locations.
During their stay, Vice-President Vance and his wife are expected to explore the iconic Ridge Ground and the bustling Mall Road. The US Embassy officials inspected the luxurious Wildflower Hall hotel in Charabra where the Vice-President is likely to stay.

A 43-member team of US security officials and embassy representatives from Delhi arrived in Shimla around noon, travelling in a convoy of 11 vehicles from Chandigarh.

The team first assessed the security measures at Wildflower Hall and later reviewed the arrangements at the Ridge Ground. The inspection was conducted in the presence of senior officials from the state administration, including the District Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police.

According to official sources, Vice-President Vance’s visit to Shimla is scheduled for this month.
In anticipation of the high-profile visit, the local administration and law enforcement agencies are on high alert to ensure flawless security and hospitality for the distinguished guests.
