Mandi, December 24 –
Despite promises to enhance healthcare in Himachal Pradesh, the state government’s recent decision to transfer key doctors without replacements has left hospitals in Mandi district reeling. The move has sparked outrage among residents and raised questions about the government’s commitment to public health.
Hospitals Left in Crisis
In a controversial decision, five doctors from Zonal Hospital Mandi and six from Lal Bahadur Shastri Medical College, Ner Chowk, were transferred to Primary Health Centers (PHCs) across the district. These hospitals, already grappling with inadequate infrastructure and resources, are now facing severe manpower shortages.

Public Outrage
The abrupt transfers, particularly during the peak winter season when healthcare demands rise, have drawn sharp criticism from locals. “The government is crippling already struggling hospitals,” said a local activist.
