All traders operating under the Bharmaur Health Block have been officially notified that the sale of loose cigarettes and bidis is strictly prohibited in Himachal Pradesh. The directive comes under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Regulation) Act, 2016, which imposes a fine of up to ₹15,000 for selling loose tobacco items.

Furthermore, selling tobacco products without a valid license may result in a fine of up to ₹1 lakh, imprisonment for up to one year, or both.

Block Medical Officer Bharmaur, Dr. Dipesh Kumar, has urged all local vendors to comply with the law and immediately obtain the necessary license for tobacco sales from their respective Panchayat Secretary (Gram Panchayat or Nagar Panchayat). Failure to do so will lead to strict legal action.
