Dharamshala: A medical student from Punjab died after falling into a well while taking a selfie near Bhagsunag Waterfall in McLeodganj in Himachal Pradesh.
The deceased has been identified as Justin, a resident of Prem Nagar in Batala (Punjab).
According to reports, Justin had come to visit Bhagsunag Waterfall with his two friends, Ashish and Peter, on Tuesday (April 1, 2025) evening around 7 pm. While taking a selfie, he lost his control on a slippery rock and fell into a deep water-filled well.
Rushed to Tanda hospital, but to no avail
Hearing the cries of his friends for help, local youths rushed to the spot and managed to pull him out of the water. Without delay, they shifted him in a taxi to the Zonal Hospital in Dharamshala.
However, due to his critical condition, doctors referred him to Tanda Medical College where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Kangra police issue safety advisory
Following the incident, the McLeodganj police were informed and they took custody of the body. An autopsy will be conducted on Wednesday before the body being handed over to his family.
The Kangra police have issued a safety advisory, urging tourists to exercise caution at places like Bhagsunag Waterfall, where slippery terrain poses a serious risk.
