Dharamshala: Police investigations into the recent Gharoh mu*rder case near Dharamshala in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh have revealed that a theft of Rs 20,000 was the trigger behind the gruesome act of a 17-year-old boy allegedly ki*lling his own father.
According to police sources, the teenager had recently stolen a wallet containing Rs 20,000 from a villager. The victim of the theft complained to the boy’s father, Vipin Kumar, demanding the money be returned. Furious over the incident, Vipin scolded his son severely and ordered him to repay the amount. This led to a heated argument between father and son.
Enraged and humiliated, the boy is said to have hatched a plan to k*ill his father. He loaded his father’s gun, waited for the right moment during the day and then allegedly shot him at close range — firing near his eye and nose. The bullet impact was so severe that it blew apart parts of the victim’s head.
Police said the case also revealed deep-rooted family discord. Vipin and his wife were in the midst of divorce proceedings, with the younger son living with the father and the elder with the mother. The turbulent household environment, lack of parental unity and absence of a proper upbringing are believed to have contributed to the boy’s violent outburst.
The authorities have taken the juvenile into custody and are probing further into the circumstances leading to the crime.
