Royal family woman with roots in Himachal’s Chamba elected BJP MLA for fourth time in Rajasthan, is in race for ministerial berth

CHAMBA: In a remarkable feat, Siddhi Kumari, a woman with roots in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, has secured victory in the Assembly elections from the Bikaner East seat of Rajasthan for the fourth consecutive term. The win not only solidifies her position as a seasoned politician but also positions her as a strong contender for a ministerial post.

Siddhi Kumari, a member of the BJP, has received hearty congratulations on her electoral success from key political figures in Himachal. Former Education Minister Asha Kumari, Rajiv Sehgal and Rajesh extended their felicitations on behalf of the people of Chamba. Siddhi Kumari’s victory is seen as a continuation of her family’s longstanding involvement in the political landscape of Bikaner.

The historical ties between Chamba and Bikaner trace back to the union of Padmavati, daughter of Chamba’s ruler Raja Laxman Singh, with Narendra Singh Bahadur, son of Maharaja Karni Singh Bahadur of Bikaner. Siddhi Kumari, the daughter of Padmavati, has now clinched victory in the elections for the fourth time, marking another chapter in the family’s political legacy.

Siddhi Kumari’s grandmother Sushila Kumari had been an MP, winning elections from Bikaner for an impressive 25 years. The family’s political contributions extend further, with Siddhi Kumari’s mother Padma Devi actively participating in politics. Together, Chamba’s daughter, mother and grandmother have played pivotal roles in shaping the political landscape of Bikaner in Rajasthan.

Siddhi Kumari, hailing from the Bikaner royal family, expressed her gratitude following the electoral triumph. She attributed her success to the public and acknowledged the influence of her grandmother and mother, stating that she learned the ropes of public service from her family. Siddhi Kumari secured victory with a significant margin, emphasising the continued support she enjoys in the Bikaner East constituency.

Apart from her political endeavors, Siddhi Kumari is known to possess substantial land holdings, with approximately 147 bighas of land in Chamba and 247 bighas in Bikaner’s Gajner gram panchayat.
