Dharamshala: MLA Sudhir Sharma, National Secretary of the Congress party, has initiated a project to rejuvenate religious tourism in Dharamshala.

The historic Hanuman temple in Kachahari Bazaar is currently undergoing restoration, with the use of red stones to enhance its appearance. Sharma announced the commencement of this project, emphasizing its significance in attracting both domestic and international tourists who visit Dharamshala.

The Hanuman temple holds immense importance for devotees, and pilgrims often pay their respects here. Sharma expressed his vision of giving the temple a new look, and the renovation work has now begun in full swing. The use of red stones is aimed at beautifying the temple, and improvements such as a redesigned four-door entrance and an attractive circumambulation path are also in the plan.

Sharma stated that the colour choices, particularly shades of red and saffron, resonate with the preferences of Lord Bajrangbali (Hanuman). The project is expected to contribute to the religious tourism sector, and Sharma urged officials to ensure that the work is completed within the stipulated timeframe.

In addition to the Hanuman temple renovation, a grant of Rs 1.5 million has been allocated for the beautification of Fawwara Chowk in Kotwali Bazaar. This key area in the city will witness a transformation, catering to the demands and expectations of the local residents.

Sharma assured the public that the developments are in line with their aspirations and emphasized that he remains committed to resisting any obstacles to progress.

Furthermore, the ongoing work at GMR Ground and the installation of high masts for better visibility are advancing swiftly. Sharma highlighted the significance of GMR Ground, stating that it would become a grand public space for the city. He also assured that Ramlila, an annual event held at the ground, would now be conducted in an organized manner.

As Dharamshala aims to establish itself as a major tourism center, these initiatives are crucial for enhancing its appeal. Sharma reiterated his dedication to uplifting Dharamshala’s status and ensuring that the region continues to attract tourists, including high-end tourists.
