SHIMLA:

The unyielding spell of torrential rain continues to wreak havoc across Himachal Pradesh. In a tragic turn of events, a two-storeyed house collapsed in Anni in Kullu district, while a woman lost her life after a house caved in at Samloh (Bastala) in the Kasauli region of Solan district.

At the new bus stand in Anni, the double-storey building, which had withstood previous disasters, finally gave way amid the ongoing rains. This location was devastated during the 2023 disaster when eight houses were buried under similar conditions. The now-collapsed house had managed to survive for three years but couldn’t withstand the relentless downpour this monsoon season.

Woman k*illed in Kasauli as home caves in

In Solan’s Kasauli area, tragedy struck late Monday (September 1, 2025) night when a house collapsed in Samloh village under Bhavgudi panchayat. Hemlata (40), wife of Him Ram, lost her life in the incident.
Local authorities reached the spot on Tuesday morning. The administration provided Rs 20,000 as immediate relief. The body was sent to the Regional Hospital in Solan for postmortem.

Schools closed across all districts

Himachal Pradesh is grappling with widespread disruption as landslides and rain-related damage continue unabated. The Meteorological Department has issued fresh warnings, prompting closure of schools in 12 districts, including Kangra, Solan, Shimla, and Kullu. Online classes have been mandated for teachers.

Over 1,300 roads, including six national highways, remain shut, while nearly 3,300 power transformers and 850 water supply schemes have been rendered non-functional, cutting off essential services to hundreds of villages.

In Taklech, a massive landslide near the CHC has blocked multiple routes, and power supply remains down due to broken poles. Meanwhile, the Bhadsaali bridge pillar in Haroli constituency has been damaged, forcing the authorities to close the Gagret route until further notice. The Public Works Department is working round-the-clock to restore traffic movement.
