Kangra:
A prostitution racket operating out of a private guest house near Tanda Medical College in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh has been uncovered by the local police. The raid took place at the Mountain Jem Guest House, located on Tanda Medical College road, following a tip-off received by the Kangra police station on July 3 (2025).
Acting swiftly on the information, the police formed two separate teams and carried out a sting operation. Undercover officers posed as customers and entered the guest house. Once confirmation was received from inside, both police teams conducted a coordinated raid.
During the operation, two women involved in the alleged sex trade were rescued from the premises. A woman identified as Neetu Rajput (35), a resident of Manimajra in Chandigarh, who was allegedly managing the illegal activities, was taken into custody.
An FIR has been registered under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, and further legal proceedings are underway. The two rescued women have been placed under protective custody and are scheduled to be presented before the court in Kangra.
The entire operation was executed under the supervision of Kangra Station House Officer Sanjeev Kumar, with the support of 10 other police personnel. The raid was planned and carried out in a strategic and organised manner. The authorities have said that all individuals found involved in the trafficking network would face strict legal action as per the law.
