Preparations for International Minjar Fair 2026 Reviewed

A review meeting on the progress of arrangements for the upcoming International Minjar Fair 2026 was held at the Savings Bhawan, Chamba, under the chairmanship of Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania. The fair will be celebrated from July 26 to August 2, 2026, at Chaugan No. 1, following tradition.

The meeting discussed in detail the cultural programs to be presented during the fair, expenditure and revenue, invitation cards and souvenirs, transport and traffic management, parking facilities, sports competitions, maintenance of Chaugan, water and electricity supply, sanitation, health and medical services, as well as necessary repairs at the Art Centre and Manjari Garden.

Speaking on the occasion, Speaker Pathania said that the Minjar Fair is a historic and internationally renowned festival that symbolizes Chamba’s identity and pride. He emphasized that the fair reflects the district’s rich cultural heritage and promotes social harmony and brotherhood. He urged officials to preserve the cultural essence of the fair and ensure smooth, peaceful, and joyful celebrations this year as well. He directed all departments to fulfill their responsibilities with sincerity and ensure flawless management. He also stressed on showcasing local culture and providing maximum opportunities to Himachali artists.

MLA Neeraj Nayyar suggested organizing a Saras Mela during the fair and exploring temporary parking facilities near Balu (Bhagot). Deputy Commissioner Amit Mehra presented a detailed progress report of various sub-committees and informed that eight cultural evenings will be organized at the Art Centre, with seven concluding by 10 PM and the final one permitted until midnight by the Department of Environment, Science & Technology, Shimla.

The Speaker extended advance greetings to the people of Chamba for the fair, while the Deputy Commissioner assured that the administration, officials, and public cooperation will make the event a grand success.

The meeting was attended by MLA Neeraj Nayyar, APMC Chairman Lalit Thakur, Haj Committee Chairman Dildar Ali Batt, District Congress Committee President Surjit Bharmauri, State Congress General Secretary Yashwant Khanna, Acting Deputy Commissioner Amit Mehra, Superintendent of Police Vijay Saklani, SDM Priyanshu Rabati, AC to DC Manmohan Singh, Medical College Principal Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Chief Conservator of Forests Rakesh Singh, PWD Superintendent Engineer Jeet Singh Thakur, Jal Shakti Superintendent Engineer Rajesh Mongra, Electricity Superintendent Engineer Rajiv Kumar, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jalam Singh Bhardwaj, Chamba Vyapar Mandal President Virender Mahajan, along with conveners and members of various committees and departmental officers.
