Dharamshala: Arihant Marwaha, a final-year student of Amity University, Noida, has created a unique iPhone app that blends wellness, technology and creativity.
Hailing from Palampur in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, Arihant is pursuing a degree in Computer Science and Engineering and has now stepped into the world of app development with his project GUGU.
Driven by a passion to build solutions that create real impact, Arihant says technology has always been at the centre of his daily life. “Ever since childhood, my curiosity pushed me to explore new technologies and learn what’s trending. When the chance came to apply my skills in a meaningful project, I took inspiration from my surroundings and identified a problem faced by many of us – sticking to daily habits,” he explained.
That thought led to GUGU, a next-generation wellness app designed to make habit-building more fun and emotionally rewarding. At its core, the app introduces a playful twist — a digital pet companion named Gugu, whose health and mood depend on the user’s daily habits.

Features of GUGU
• Custom habit goals: Users can set and track goals related to hydration, nutrition, movement, mindfulness or any personal routine they want to build.
• Digital pet companion: Gugu, the in-app pet, thrives when users stay consistent with their habits, creating a gamified experience of self-care.
• Gentle notifications & journaling: The app sends thoughtful reminders and offers mindful journaling prompts to help users reflect and grow.
Speaking about the app, Arihant said, “Good design and feasibility of an idea inspire me the most. With GUGU, I wanted to make wellness less of a chore and more of a delightful experience.”
With its blend of goal-setting, emotional motivation and privacy features, the app aims to become a fresh take on digital wellness for iPhone users.
