Palampur : Preparations for Kargil Vijay Diwas, commemorating the valour and sacrifices of India’s armed forces, gained momentum as a coordination meeting was held under the chairmanship of SDM Palampur, Netra Mehta on Tuesday.
The meeting focused on ensuring seamless organization of the commemorative event scheduled later this month. SDM Mehta emphasized the need for timely and efficient arrangements, highlighting the solemn significance of honouring the martyrs of the Kargil War. She announced that the Palampur administration, in collaboration with the Ex-Servicemen League, will jointly host the program, aiming to evoke national pride and pay homage to the heroes who laid down their lives for the country.
One of the key highlights of the discussion was the planned participation of local NCC units, as Mehta stressed the importance of involving youth in the observance. “Students must understand the sacrifices made for our freedom. Their participation will inspire patriotism and respect for those who serve the nation,” she noted.
The meeting was attended by senior officials and representatives of veteran communities, including DSP Lokendra Negi, Additional Commissioner of Palampur Municipal Corporation Vikas Sharma, Tehsildar Sajan Bagga, and core members of the Ex-Servicemen League — President Ramesh Dadhwal, Vice President Santosh Katoch, General Secretary Ranjeet Katoch, and Press Secretary Kuldeep Rana.
The gathering concluded with a collective commitment to uphold the dignity of the occasion through a respectful and impactful event, reflecting the spirit of Kargil Vijay Diwas and reinforcing the community’s deep-rooted gratitude towards its war heroes.
