In a significant action under its special campaign against proclaimed offenders, District Police Nurpur has successfully arrested two absconding accused in separate operations conducted on February 5 and 6, 2026. The arrests were made by the PO Cell team, reaffirming the police department’s commitment to enforcing the rule of law.
First Arrest Made from Zirakpur
As part of the ongoing special drive, on February 5, 2026, the PO Cell team arrested Sarwan Ali (34), son of Rustam Ali, a resident of Village Jugial, Post Office Shahpurkandi, Tehsil Dharkalan, District Pathankot (Punjab). The accused was apprehended from Nabha (Zirakpur).
Sarwan Ali was wanted in connection with FIR No. 343/2020 dated November 21, 2020, registered at Police Station Nurpur under Sections 451, 323, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. He had been declared a proclaimed offender by the court after evading legal proceedings. Following his arrest, the accused was handed over to Police Station Nurpur for further legal action.
Second Proclaimed Offender Arrested from Gurdaspur
Continuing the crackdown, on February 6, 2026, the PO Cell team arrested another proclaimed offender, Karan Mahajan, son of Suresh Kumar, resident of Village Daurangala, District Gurdaspur (Punjab). He was apprehended from his native village Daurangala.
Karan Mahajan was wanted in FIR No. 121/2021, registered at Police Station Damtal under Sections 279, 337 and 338 of the IPC, along with Sections 184 and 187 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Like the earlier case, he had also been declared a proclaimed offender by the court.
Campaign Against Proclaimed Offenders to Continue
District Police Nurpur has reiterated that the special Abhiyan against proclaimed offenders will continue in the future as well. The police have made it clear that individuals evading the law will be traced and arrested, irrespective of their location.
The successful operations reflect the district police’s focused efforts to strengthen law enforcement and ensure that proclaimed offenders are brought to justice without delay.
