The nomination process for the upcoming Panchayat elections in Bharmaur development block has picked up pace. By May 7, 2026, a total of 176 nomination papers have been filed across various Panchayats for the posts of Pradhan, Up-Pradhan, and Ward Members.
According to official figures, 46 candidates have filed for the post of Pradhan, 45 for Up-Pradhan, and 85 for Ward Members.
Among the Panchayats, Khani Panchayat recorded the highest number of nominations with 16 papers filed, followed by Aura (12), Durgethi (10), and Chobia and Poolan (9 each). Panchayats such as Bharmaur, Chanhouta, and Greema saw 8 nominations each.
In contrast, some Panchayats have yet to witness any activity. Bajol, Grounda, Kulet, and Nayagraan reported no nominations for any post so far.
Additionally, 20 nomination papers for Block Development Committee (BDC) candidates were filed in Bharmaur on Thursday.
The administration has ensured all necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the election process, with nomination centers witnessing steady footfall of candidates and supporters. Meanwhile, political activity in rural areas has intensified as the Panchayat elections draw closer.
