Dalhousie MLA DS Thakur has accused the Himachal Pradesh government of discriminatory treatment toward BJP-held constituencies, raising concerns over the lack of basic health and education infrastructure in his segment.

Thakur raised the issues amid the ongoing monsoon session of the Assembly. Addressing the media in Shimla, he alleged that the people of Dalhousie constituency, especially in remote areas like Kihar, were facing extreme distress due to the non-availability of doctors in government hospitals. He said the situation had worsened to the point that locals have resorted to hunger strikes, demanding urgent medical staff appointments.

Govt playing politics with public services, says Thakur

The BJP MLA pointed out that despite nine sanctioned doctor posts at Kihar Civil Hospital, not a single doctor had been deployed there. “People are forced to take to the streets and some have gone on hunger strike due to the absence of healthcare facilities,” he said.

Thakur further highlighted that a college had been opened in Dalhousie, but it lacked a permanent building, forcing students to study in makeshift arrangements. “This shows the government is only interested in optics, not in providing real infrastructure,” he said.

Thakur went on to allege that constituencies held by opposition (BJP) MLAs were being systematically ignored by the Congress-led state government. “The government should ensure equal development across all constituencies, irrespective of political affiliation. But what we are seeing is clear step-motherly treatment,” he said.

Calling for immediate intervention, Thakur urged the Chief Minister and the Health Department to prioritise urgent postings in underserved areas like Dalhousie and Kihar before the situation spirals further.
