Mandi: As Mandi and Kullu grapple with disasters and the Maha Shivratri celebrations unfold, one question looms large—where is their Member of Parliament, Kangana Ranaut?
The Bollywood actress-turned-politician made a high-profile entry into politics, winning the Mandi Lok Sabha seat with promises of dedicated service. However, her prolonged absence from the region has sparked criticism from locals and opposition leaders alike, while BJP leaders remain silent.
Crisis in Mandi & Kullu – MP Missing in Action?*
In recent months, devastating fire incidents have left multiple families homeless in Mandi and Kullu. The affected people expected their MP to visit, offer support, or at least acknowledge their plight. However, Kangana has neither made a public statement nor visited the affected areas.
Dr. Anupama Singh, Pro Vice-Chancellor of SPU, questioned her inaction: “An MP’s duty is not just to be in Parliament but to stand with people in tough times. Did she even acknowledge their suffering?”
Chaman Lal, a farmer from Kullu, echoed similar concerns: “We hoped our MP would voice our struggles in Parliament, but she is nowhere to be seen.”
Local organizations and political leaders have repeatedly urged her to address the crisis, but her absence has led to growing frustration among her constituents.
Maha Shivratri Festivities, But No Sign of Mandi’s MP
Maha Shivratri, one of Mandi’s grandest cultural events, sees participation from leaders across political lines. Being a native of Mandi, Kangana’s presence was expected, yet she remained absent from the celebrations.
Rukmani Devi, a long-time resident, remarked: “Shivratri is part of our heritage. All leaders make it a priority to attend, but our MP’s absence is disheartening.”
Opposition leaders have taken this as an opportunity to question her commitment. Congress leader Champa Thakur stated: “Kangana made big promises during elections, but now she is nowhere to be seen. The people of Mandi deserve better.”
BJP’s Silence & Internal Party Concerns
While Congress and locals are vocal in their criticism, BJP leaders have largely refrained from addressing the issue. However, a party insider revealed to The Newz Radar (TNR) that “Kangana will visit Mandi when the party advises her to do so.”
This has raised concerns about whether she is acting independently as an MP or simply waiting for directives from party leadership.
Will Kangana Reconnect with Mandi?
Kangana Ranaut campaigned with promises of active leadership, but her absence has led many to wonder whether her political role is a priority or merely a side project.
With growing discontent among her constituents, the question remains: Will Kangana step up and reconnect with Mandi, or will her political journey fade into the background?
