Setting a remarkable example of community spirit, the Praja Committee and Mahila Mandal of Sach Gram Panchayat in Himachal Pradesh’s tribal region of Pangi organized a large-scale cleanliness campaign today.

With unprecedented enthusiasm, nearly 200 villagers came together for collective shramdaan, forming groups to clean residential areas, pathways, public spaces, and natural water sources.

By the end of the day-long drive, around 25 tippers of waste were collected and properly disposed of. Disturbingly, the waste included a significant quantity of cold drink bottles, beer and liquor glass bottles, along with plastic and other non-biodegradable materials. These were removed from village boundaries to safeguard the environment.

Leaders of the Praja Committee and Mahila Mandal stated that the campaign’s primary objective was to make the village pollution-free and to raise awareness among both tourists and locals about the importance of cleanliness. They expressed concern over the careless disposal of bottles and plastics in public places, calling it hazardous for the environment.

Villagers pledged to continue organizing such drives in the future to preserve the natural beauty of Sach village and promote a culture of cleanliness and responsibility.
