On October 27, 2025, a legal awareness camp was successfully organised at Government Senior Secondary School, Udaipur, under the aegis of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Chamba. The event focused on two key initiatives: the NALSA (Legal Services to the Victims of Drug Abuse and Eradication of Drug Menace) Scheme, 2015 and the newly launched NALSA (DAWN – Drug Awareness and Wellness Navigation) Scheme, 2025.
Advocate Naveen Singh Thakur, Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Chamba, participated as the resource person. Other dignitaries present included panel advocate Harinder Singh, Dr. Navendeep Rathore from the CMO office, ASI Jitendra from the police department, and school principal Suresh Thakur.
A total of 206 students attended the camp, comprising 97 boys and 109 girls, along with 32 teaching and non-teaching staff members (15 male and 17 female).
In his address, Advocate Thakur briefed students on the objectives of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, and various schemes run by NALSA. He emphasized the importance of legal aid for victims of substance abuse and discussed the critical role youth can play in eradicating drug-related harm from society.
“Substance abuse not only affects an individual’s physical and mental health but also weakens the core structure of families and society. Youth must stay away from drugs and lead the way in building an aware and responsible community,” he stated.
The program concluded with Principal Suresh Thakur expressing gratitude to DLSA Chamba and all invited guests, urging students to actively participate in the fight against drug abuse.
