Dharamshala— In a significant step towards supporting the families of India’s brave soldiers, a legal aid clinic was inaugurated today at the District Sainik Board in Dharamshala under the Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana–2025, an initiative of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).
The clinic aims to provide free legal assistance to the families of serving and retired soldiers, ensuring timely and accessible legal support for issues ranging from pension disputes to property matters. The inauguration was part of a state-wide virtual launch of legal aid clinics across various districts in Himachal Pradesh.
Presiding over the virtual ceremony were Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court Shri Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia and Executive Chairman of the State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) Justice Shri Vivek Singh Thakur, along with other dignitaries from the judiciary.
At the Dharamshala event, District & Sessions Judge Shri Rajeev Bali, who also serves as Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, formally opened the clinic. He was joined by Smt. Shikha Lakhanpal, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Colonel Gopal Singh Guleria, Deputy Director of the Sainik Welfare Board, and Para Legal Volunteer Smt. Isha.
Several ex-servicemen and their families were present at the ceremony, expressing gratitude for the initiative. The clinic is expected to serve as a vital resource for soldier families, offering legal guidance and support without financial burden.
The Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana–2025 reflects a growing commitment to holistic welfare for defence personnel and their families, combining legal empowerment with institutional outreach.
Various services have been set up at the Sainik Welfare Board in Dharamshala.
The clinic will provide free legal assistance to ex-servicemen and retired soldiers, as well as their families.
During this initiative, a legal awareness camp was also organized for ex-servicemen and their families.
At the camp, Mrs. Shikha Lakhanpal, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), provided a detailed explanation of the scheme.
