On the occasion of International Youth Day, Government Arya College Nurpur organized a lecture on the theme “Youth, Drug Prevention and Mental Health.” The program was jointly conducted by the Anti-Drug Committee and the Mental Health Committee under the guidance of College Principal Dr. Anil Kumar Thakur.

Experts from the Brahma Kumaris organization, including Ms. C.K. Jyoti, attended the event along with faculty members and students. The program began with Dr. Diljit Singh, Convener of the committees, welcoming the guests and highlighting the importance of awareness programs in tackling the growing menace of drug abuse among youth.

Addressing the students, Ms. C.K. Jyoti spoke about the harmful effects of narcotics, the importance of mental health, and the need to spread awareness in society. She emphasized that the Brahma Kumaris, in collaboration with the government, are committed to educating the nation’s youth about the dangers of drug addiction.

She explained that during adolescence, incomplete emotional and mental maturity often makes students vulnerable to addictions, bad company, and even criminal activities. Hence, awareness and prevention are crucial. She also underlined the role of spirituality, positive thinking, and meditation in developing self-control and mental resilience.

Later, members of the Brahma Kumaris administered a pledge to students and teachers to stay away from drugs and to spread awareness in society. All participants reaffirmed their commitment to building a drug-free community.

The event saw active participation from NSS and Red Ribbon Club members, with nearly 200 students attending. The program concluded with a vote of thanks to the experts, faculty, and students for their cooperation and involvement.
