Residents of Pakkatala locality in Chamba are living under fear after a landslide near the Veterinary Hospital in the lower residential area has endangered houses situated in the upper section.

A delegation of local residents, led by Chaugán Ward Councillor Khalid Mirza, submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repswal on Friday highlighting the issue. The delegation revealed that while shotcrete spraying work on the front side of the hill is in its final stages, landslides began at the rear side during the last monsoon, putting homes above at risk.

The residents demanded that shotcrete spraying be carried out on the rear side of the hill as well, to ensure the safety of houses in the upper section. They also expressed gratitude to Sadar MLA Neeraj Nayyar for facilitating shotcrete work on the front side of the hill.

Deputy Commissioner Repswal assured the delegation of positive action on their demands.
