In a decisive action against the illegal transportation of forest produce, the Nurpur Police District seized a truck carrying 270 tins of resin (Viroja) and arrested its driver near Kandwal Barrier, NH‑154A.
During a routine traffic check on the night of October 4, 2026, the Kandwal Police Post team stopped truck number HP38B‑6400 arriving from Jasur. Upon inspection, officers found iron tins concealed under a yellow tarpaulin, each containing resin. The driver failed to produce any valid permit or authorization for the transport.
In the presence of Forest Department officials, the tins were counted and verified — 270 tins of 15‑litre capacity each. The entire consignment, along with the truck, was seized as per procedure.
Accused: Karan Manhas, son of Choor Singh Manhas, resident of Vehi Pathiar, Tehsil Jawali, District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.
Legal Action: An FIR (No. 250/2026) has been registered at Nurpur Police Station under Sections 41 & 42 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927 and Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
Recovery: 270 tins of resin (15 litres each) and truck number HP38B‑6400.
