In a moment of immense pride for Himachal Pradesh, 17-year-old Jyotiraditya Jamwal from Mandi has secured admission into the prestigious computer science and engineering (CSE) course at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Jammu after cracking the highly competitive JEE-Advanced, one of the country’s toughest entrance examinations.

Jyotiraditya’s journey to IIT-Jammu is marked by exceptional academic merit. He first achieved a 99.4 percentile in JEE-Mains, a national-level exam attempted by over 15 lakh students, and then stood out among 2.5 lakh aspirants in the JEE-Advanced. His selection into the highly sought-after CSE stream places him among the country’s top-performing engineering hopefuls.

Strong roots, stronger resolve

Born and raised in Mandi, Jyotiraditya is the son of Jitender Jamwal, a banker, and Yashu Jamwal, a teacher, both of whom have been pillars of support throughout his academic journey. “He has always been a self-driven learner with deep curiosity and discipline,” his parents shared. “His success is the result of years of quiet determination and relentless hard work.”

Known for his humility and focus, Jyotiraditya has developed a strong interest in coding and artificial intelligence, and looks forward to exploring these domains further at IIT-Jammu.

Symbol of small-town excellence

Jyotiraditya’s achievement sends a powerful message to students across India’s smaller cities and towns: with the right mindset and effort, no dream is out of reach. His story breaks stereotypes and underlines the growing wave of academic excellence emerging from India’s heartlands.

Educators and community members across Mandi have hailed the young achiever as a role model. “Jyotiraditya represents the best of our new generation — sharp, sincere and visionary,” said a senior academic from the region. “His success is not just personal but a source of pride for the entire community.”

As Jyotiraditya prepares to begin his academic journey at IIT-Jammu, he is driven by a desire to contribute to India’s fast-growing tech ecosystem. With a clear vision for the future, he hopes to work on real-world challenges and be part of India’s innovation and AI revolution. This remarkable milestone not only marks Jyotiraditya’s entry into the elite IIT fraternity but also puts Mandi on the national academic map. His journey is a shining testament to what focus, family support, and self-belief can achieve.

“He is also an online blogger and content creator, running a YouTube channel initially titled IIT Aspirants Vlog. Following his selection, the channel was rebranded as Jyotiraditya Decodes (IIT Jammu), where he has documented his entire two-year preparation journey.
