Himachal land dispute turns fatal, Kinnaur government school teacher dies after being attacked with stones, sickle

Shimla: A land dispute in remote Rarang village under Moorang police station in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh took a tragic turn when a government school teacher succumbed to injuries sustained during a violent clash between two families.


According to police sources, the deceased has been identified as Krishan Lal Negi, a teacher at Government Primary School, Akpa. The incident occurred when Krishan Lal and his wife Chunni Devi were returning home after irrigating their fields.


In her official complaint, Chunni Devi alleged that a group of villagers, identified as Dawa Gyalchan, Sem Kali, their sons Suman Singh and Praveen, daughter Poonam and daughter-in-law, confronted the couple carrying sticks, sickles, rods and stones.

Victim succumbs at IGMC-Shimla

The group allegedly launched an unprovoked attack, injuring Krishan Lal and his two brothers, Kumanand and Dundup Gyatso.
A local resident intervened and managed to break up the fight, after which the accused reportedly fled the scene with their weapons.


All three injured were rushed to the Regional Hospital in Reckong Peo. Given his critical condition, Krishan Lal Negi was referred to the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla, where he died around 3 pm the same day. His brothers are still under treatment.

Cross-FIRs lodged, investigation underway

“Krishan Lal was known as a respected figure in the village, serving for years as a dedicated teacher,” said a family member.
Both parties involved in the clash have filed cross-FIRs. The authorities have initiated an investigation and are currently in the process of locating the accused who are at large.


Police officials said that a case under various charges, including murder and rioting, has been registered and efforts were ongoing to bring the perpetrators to justice.
