Shimla: A Himachal Pradesh electricity department employee lost his life due to electrocution while on duty in the 16 Mile area under Halog Dhammi sub-tehsil near Shimla.

The victim, Harvinder Singh (29), had married only about 45 days ago. Hailing from Tripal village in Dehra sub-division of Kangra district, he was posted as a team mate in the Halog Dhammi area. According to reports, he was installing a new electricity meter at a house when the fatal accident occurred. While working at a height, Harvinder reportedly lost his balance and came in direct contact with a live LT line.

The powerful electric shock caused him to fall to the ground, sustaining critical injuries to his head and nose.
Locals at the scene rushed him to the Community Health Centre in Halog Dhammi, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Harvinder’s sudden demise has devastated his family and left the entire locality in mourning. His bride is inconsolable and a household that recently witnessed wedding celebrations is now drowned in sorrow as preparations are underway for his last rites.

Police officials conducted a postmortem at IGMC-Shimla and have since handed over the body to the bereaved family.
