Shimla — In response to persistent heavy rainfall and worsening weather conditions across Himachal Pradesh, Director General of Police Ashok Tewari has issued a comprehensive directive to all senior police officials, emphasizing immediate preparedness and personnel safety.
The directive, addressed to all Range IGPs, DIGs, SPs, and COs, outlines ten key measures to ensure the effectiveness of traffic management, relief, and rescue operations. These include:
- Provision of raincoats and umbrellas for police and home guard personnel.
- Food and refreshments for those deployed in extended or hazardous conditions.
- Inspection of torches and rescue equipment to ensure readiness.
- Full functionality of wireless communication systems.
- Adequate fuel reserves for emergency vehicles.
- Deployment in flood- and landslide-prone areas.
- Coordination with NDRF, SDRF, and local administration.
- Dissemination of public safety messages via media channels.
The DGP stressed that personnel safety and public protection are paramount, urging officers to remain vigilant and responsive to evolving emergencies. He also called for strict compliance and acknowledgment of the instructions issued.
