DHARAMSHALA: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu left for Delhi on Wednesday (April 24, 2024), but not for the finalisation of candidates for the Kangra and Hamirpur Lok Sabha seats and the byelections to the six Assembly constituencies in the state.

Chief Minister Sukhu boarded a flight from the Gaggal airport in Kangra. Speaking to the media at the airport, he said the Congress had zeroed in on the candidates for the upcoming elections in Himachal and the party had already launched its campaign. He cited his recent visits to Dharamshala and Sujanpur for the purpose. He, however, said he was visiting Delhi to attend a media conclave.

Attacking leader of opposition Jai Ram Thakur, the Chief Minister said the BJP leader had “challenged the power of God”. “Jai Ram said that even the God cannot save the Congress government now. He thinks he is bigger than the God. The God who helped our government survive till now will save it in the future too,” said Sukhu.

The Chief Minister said the BJP’s alleged attempts to grab power with the help of money power was the Congress’ main issue in the elections. “We are also focusing on the work done by the Congress government for the common people in the last 15 months,” he said.
Sukhu said he did not want to talk much about the MLAs who sold themselves because the voters will soon decide their fate and they were “sure to face defeat”. “We are presenting the policies of the BJP before the public. The people of Dharamshala are educated and they know that the right answer will be given at the right time. Rest, the Congress will announce its candidates soon,” he added.
