Former BJP MLA Rebukes Ex-Minister Kanwar for Disloyalty to Party

Gagret: In a surprising turn of events, Rajesh Thakur, former MLA from Gagret in Una district, Himachal Pradesh, delivered a stern message to former BJP Minister Virender Kanwar, who recently spoke against the party.
“Your allegiance should lie with the party that has provided you with everything, from cabinet ranks to social status. It’s time to prioritize serving the party,” Thakur publicly admonished Kanwar in a public meeting at Gagret on Thursday.
Kanwar, a former minister in the BJP, faced defeat in the recent elections to Devinder Kumar Bhutto, who previously belonged to the Congress but has since joined the BJP to contest from Kutlehar.
When approached for comment, Vikram Kanwar declined to respond, opting to remain silent on the matter for the time being.
Political analysts speculate that Kanwar may choose not to contest the elections. However, any defiance of the party’s stance could lead to disciplinary action against prominent leaders from the Hamirpur district.
Despite serving four terms as MLA in the Himachal assembly, Kanwar’s political standing is considered weak. Some attribute his success to internal rifts within the Congress rather than his individual merit.
While his supporters advocate for Kanwar to contest elections independently, others believe it would be unwise to do so, considering the potential consequences of opposing the party line.
