To ensure free, fair, and peaceful conduct of the upcoming Panchayati Raj Institutions General Elections 2026, the first phase of election rehearsal was organized on Thursday at Government College Bharmour. The program was presided over by SDM & Returning Officer Vikas Sharma.
A total of 388 officials and staff participated in the rehearsal, including 88 presiding officers, 263 polling officers, and 37 reserve staff. During the session, detailed and practical training was provided on various stages of the polling process.
Addressing the participants, SDM Sharma emphasized that elections form the backbone of democracy and every officer and employee deployed in the electoral process plays a crucial role. He urged all staff to take the training seriously and discharge their responsibilities with utmost dedication, vigilance, and transparency.
He informed that polling will be conducted from 7 AM to 3 PM. The rehearsal covered procedures to be followed at polling stations, management of election materials, voting methods, and other essential guidelines.
SDM Sharma further announced that the second phase of election rehearsal will be held on May 21, followed by the third phase on May 24, both at Government College Bharmaur.
The event was attended by Observer Kulveer Singh Rana, BDO Tavinder Kumar, and other officials connected with the polling process.
