Announces Development as Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School

Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Rohit Thakur inspected the PM Shri Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Memorial Government Senior Secondary School (School of Excellence) in Dalhousie and reviewed preparations for its development as a Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School. He held detailed discussions with senior officials of the Education Department and issued necessary directions to ensure the implementation of the government’s notification.
During his visit, the Minister interacted warmly with students, encouraging them to pursue discipline, quality education, and continuous progress in life. He announced that Dalhousie School has been included in the list of Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding Schools notified by the state government. For this purpose, ₹5 crore has been sanctioned, out of which ₹2 crore has already been released to the Public Works Department. The merger of Lohali Primary School and Bus Stand Primary School into the Dalhousie campus was also confirmed, with primary classes to be conducted within the same premises.
Thakur further stated that the government will sympathetically consider the demand raised by former Education Minister Asha Kumari to reopen Bhalei College. He assured that all education-related demands in the Dalhousie constituency will be addressed with due consideration.
On the issue of recruitment of long-pending NTT trained teachers, the Minister informed that the state government has requested special relaxation in rules from the Centre, considering Himachal’s geographical conditions. He mentioned that around 6,200 candidates had been proposed for NTT teacher recruitment.
Addressing the NEET paper leak case, Thakur termed it “extremely unfortunate and concerning.” He stressed that both the Centre and the state must work together to prevent such incidents in the future. While the Centre has announced the formation of a task force, Himachal Pradesh is seriously considering the implementation of computer-based examinations. He reiterated the state’s commitment to a “zero tolerance” policy in safeguarding the interests of meritorious students.
Former Education Minister Asha Kumari welcomed and thanked Rohit Thakur for his visit. The event was also attended by Zila Parishad Chairperson Rekha Thakur, SDM Dalhousie Anil Bhardwaj, senior officials from PWD and Jal Shakti Department, Deputy Director (Higher Education) Vikas Mahajan, Bhalei Temple Committee President Kamal Thakur, Block Congress Committee President Amit Sharma, senior Congress leader Sahab Singh, along with principals, teachers, and local dignitaries.
