Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla extended his heartfelt congratulations to the meritorious students who were honoured with the ‘TNR Shining Star Awards-Celebrating Excellence’ at the historic Gaiety Theatre in Shimla on Monday (August 5).

Addressing the gathering at the auditorium packed with students, parents, teachers and dignitaries, the Governor expressed his pride in being part of the function and extended his best wishes for the future endeavours of the award recipients.

The Governor congratulations The Newz Radar for organising such a commendable event and wished the media house luck for growth in the future. “There are so many media houses in the country, but not all are organising such events of social significance. The Newz Radar deserves special praise for taking up such a special cause and encouraging the meritorious students, who are the future of the country as well as the world. Not all media houses do it,” he said.

The ceremony celebrated the academic excellence and dedication of the state’s brightest students. Those from Shimla district who had scored over 90 per cent marks in their Class X and Class XII board examinations were felicitated.

Emphasising the enduring importance of traditional media amidst the rise of social platforms, the Governor remarked, “Despite all the social media, there is always the credibility of the print news.” Drawing inspiration from a renowned Urdu couplet, he encouraged the students to elevate their aspirations and efforts.

“Khudi ko buland kar itna ki khuda puche tujhse teri raza kya hai,” he quoted, urging the toppers to stay connected to their roots and work towards eradicating societal evils in their native places.

Governor Shukla also highlighted the aspirations of parents, noting, “Every parent wants a medical student to become a doctor and a non-medical student to join IIT.” His words resonated with many in the audience, inspiring both students and parents alike to pursue their dreams while contributing positively to society.
