Vice Chief of Naval Staff to inaugurate on May 11

Dharamshala, May 8 – The Army Engineers have successfully installed striking models of a ship and a submarine at the Himachal Pradesh State War Memorial, marking a significant addition to the site’s tribute to India’s armed forces.
The models were presented to the War Memorial by the Vice Chief of Naval Staff, fulfilling a vision that began nearly five years ago with the first request to the then Chief of Naval Staff. The initiative was steered to success with the support of GOC 9 Corps, while Mai Amarjit of the local Engineer Regiment and his team executed the installation in record time.
Col. K.K.S. Dadwal (Veteran), President of the HP State War Memorial, expressed gratitude for the collective effort, noting the models’ symbolic importance in honoring naval contributions alongside the Army and Air Force.
The inaugural ceremony is scheduled for May 11, 2026, between 10 AM and 12 Noon. The programme will include:
- Wreath laying at the War Memorial
- Formal inauguration of the naval models
The Vice Chief of Naval Staff will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest, underscoring the Navy’s enduring bond with the memorial and the region.
