Despite Tax Reductions, Tourism industry in troubled waters

The Newz Radar SHIMLA:The double taxation imposed on tourist vehicles from other states by the state government is not helping the tourism business. Although the government has reduced the tax from 3000 rupees per day to 500 rupees, tourists are not booking Himachal’s tourist destinations for Diwali vacation. Despite this reduction, there is little enthusiasm among travelers for celebrating Christmas and New Year at Himachal’s tourist destinations this year compared to previous years. Due to the lack of tourists, hotel business owners are becoming increasingly worried. The Himachal Pradesh government has reduced the tax rates on tourist vehicles from other states, but people have already booked their trips to other tourist destinations instead of Himachal. For Diwali, very few bookings are coming in. Even for Christmas and New Year, advance bookings are minimal compared to previous years. The tourism industry is expected to incur significant losses.
