Dalhousie Public School, located in tourist hub Dalhousie in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, proudly celebrated the remarkable achievements of its alumnus Yuvraj Singh Tomar, who has successfully graduated from the prestigious National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, and is now set to complete his final year at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, before being commissioned into the Indian Navy.
Yuvraj’s journey at Dalhousie Public School began in Class I, where he thrived in an environment focused on discipline, academic excellence and character development. His aspiration to join the Navy was solidified during the school’s Founders Day in 2016 when he was inspired by Admiral Sunil Lanba, the then Chief of the Indian Navy.
Excelling academically and in co-curricular activities, Yuvraj cleared the entrance to the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute, Mohali.
Yuvraj’s success is deeply rooted in his family’s unwavering support. His father Jatinder Singh Tomar, the school’s Principal, instilled values of hard work and commitment, while his mother, Anjana, Senior Coordinator at the school, provided emotional strength and encouragement throughout his demanding journey.
Dalhousie Public School’s emphasis on patriotism, leadership and hosting visits by defence dignitaries further nurtured Yuvraj’s aspirations. Dr (Capt) GS Dhillon, Chairman and Director of the school, played a pivotal role in motivating Yuvraj, emphasising discipline and hard work.
Yuvraj now dreams of joining MARCOS, the elite marine commando force, aiming to contribute to national security through operational excellence. Reflecting on his journey, Dr Dhillon remarked, “Yuvraj’s achievements embody the values of leadership, service and perseverance that we cultivate in our students. He is a true inspiration.”
Yuvraj’s journey from Dalhousie Public School to the Indian Navy showcased the impact of a robust education, strong family values and relentless determination, inspiring future generations to pursue their dreams, said Dr Dhillon.
