BJP spokesperson slams Congress campaign; accuses party of internal rifts and fake narratives

Shimla: Senior BJP spokesperson Trilok Kapoor has termed the Congress’ “vote theft” campaign as “nothing more than a bundle of papers.” Addressing the media, Kapoor said the so-called campaign was “completely baseless and politically motivated”.
He said, “The Congress party is running a hollow campaign, while their own leaders are experts in creating duplicate voter entries. Rahul Gandhi has no real issues left, so he is trying to keep his politics alive by shouting about votes.”
Kapoor added that even the state Congress leadership was aware of the truth but was compelled to act under pressure from the party’s central office. “If there was any truth to this campaign, Rahul Gandhi should have filed an affidavit and a written complaint with the Election Commission. But no such action was taken, proving this entire campaign to be fabricated,” he remarked.
Says Rahul Gandhi runs on fake photos and false issues
Taking a dig at the Congress leader, Kapoor recalled an incident from the last parliamentary session when Rahul Gandhi and Congress MPs wore T-shirts featuring a woman named Minta Devi.
“By evening, that same woman openly criticized Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party. This shows Rahul Gandhi thrives on fake names, fake photos, and fake issues,” Kapoor alleged.
He added that Congress, having run out of substantive matters, is now trying to distract the public with one fabricated controversy after another — an effort he said has “completely failed.”
Alleges internal rift in Congress is deepening
Kapoor also pointed to growing factionalism within the state Congress unit. He claimed that the party’s recent attempts to talk about “unity” were merely efforts to hide widening internal rifts.
“When slogans in support of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Vikramaditya Singh were raised separately in the same hall of the Congress Bhavan, it became clear that the party in Himachal is divided from within,” Kapoor said.
He concluded by saying that the visible discord and baseless campaigns show that the Congress has “lost both direction and credibility” in Himachal Pradesh.
