Colleagues of Himachal Chief Engineer Vimal Negi say he was under immense stress


In the ongoing investigation into the death of Chief Engineer Vimal Negi, sources from within the Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation have revealed that the late officer had been under significant mental stress in the days leading up to the incident.


Colleagues and junior staff have disclosed during police inquiries that Negi had confided in them about the pressure he was facing and had even expressed intentions of taking an extended leave.


His colleagues have confirmed that the stress he was experiencing was visible and affecting his mental well-being.

Family levelled similar allegations against seniors

Chief Engineer Vimal Negi‘s brother Surendra Negi has stated that the police have not yet provided any substantial updates regarding the investigation.


He also expressed concern about the fact that the accused individuals were still roaming freely. Additionally, Vimal Negi’s wife has raised serious allegations against the higher officials of the Power Corporation.


She alleged that they had been mentally harassing her husband and pressuring him into unethical practices. The accusations have led to the police filing a case of abetment to suicide after taking her statement.

Police investigation uncovers key evidence

As the investigation progresses, the police have uncovered crucial evidence related to the case during their interrogations.


The authorities have been continuously questioning officials and employees of the Power Corporation, including those from Vimal Negi’s department. The police are also scrutinising records and meeting minutes to understand the conditions under which Negi was working.


The investigation aims to determine if there had been any departmental inquiries, show-cause notices or undue pressure from higher-ups that could have contributed to the distress faced by the late Chief Engineer.
