Himachal minister Vikramaditya lays stone for crucial project in tourist hub Dalhousie

Chamba: Urban Development and Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh laid the foundation stone for a multi-level parking facility in Dalhousie on February 21.


The parking complex, being constructed at a cost of Rs 1.73 crore, will provide parking space for 120 vehicles, addressing a major concern for both tourists and local residents.


The foundation stone ceremony took place at Church Balloon Road in Dalhousie, in the presence of former Education Minister Asha Kumari, officials of the Municipal Council and several dignitaries.

Speaking to the media, Vikramaditya Singh highlighted Dalhousie’s historic charm as a British-era hill station, attracting tourists from across the country and abroad. The government, he said, was committed to enhancing infrastructure and facilities to boost tourism.


He announced that in addition to the new parking complex, an Urban Huts project would be developed in the vicinity, providing comfortable and aesthetically pleasing accommodations for visitors.
Furthermore, the government is exploring the possibility of a ropeway system to further enhance connectivity and tourist convenience in Dalhousie.


During his visit, Vikramaditya Singh also interacted with local residents, listened to their grievances and assured them that their concerns would be addressed sympathetically.

Former Education Minister Asha Kumari welcomed and honoured Vikramaditya Singh, expressing her gratitude for gifting Dalhousie a much-needed parking facility.


She acknowledged that since former Urban Development Minister JBL Khachi, Vikramaditya Singh is the first minister to not only visit Dalhousie but also engage with the local people and address their issues.


The event was attended by several officials and dignitaries, including Dalhousie Municipal Council vice-president Sanjeev Pathania, Dalhousie SDM Anil Bhardwaj, Dalhousie DFO Rajneesh Mahajan and Executive Officer Rakhi Kaushal, along with officials from various departments and local residents.
