Boost to connectivity, tourism, and security in remote tribal areas

The Chamba–Killar road has officially been granted the status of a Strategic Road following the sustained efforts of Rajya Sabha MP and former minister Harsh Mahajan. With this designation, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) will oversee its construction and maintenance, while execution will be carried out under the supervision of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
Mahajan described the move as a landmark step toward strengthening connectivity in the remote and tribal regions of Churah, Pangi, and Killar. He emphasized that improved road access will significantly benefit transportation, tourism, economic activities, healthcare, education, and security across the district.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari, Mahajan said that enhancing connectivity in Chamba’s remote areas remains one of his foremost priorities.
