DHARAMSHALA:
After a spectacular launch of The Newz Radar-Shining Star Awards 3.0 in Dharamshala on Monday (June 2, 2025), the much-anticipated academic excellence event now heads to Chamba — a district that witnessed an equally inspiring celebration in 2024. Set to take place on June 8, this year’s edition promises to be bigger, better and even more memorable.

In 2024, the event had drawn an overwhelming response in Chamba, honouring a large number of meritorious students. The Additional Superintendent of Police had presided over the occasion as chief guest, joined by several other dignitaries and community leaders.

Continuing the legacy, the 2025 edition is expected to once again spotlight the district’s brightest academic achievers.

Cut-off announced: 80% & above for Class 10 & 12

For this year’s Chamba leg of the awards, students who scored 80% and above in Class 10 and Class 12 board exams (all boards and streams) will be eligible for recognition. The awards aim to appreciate students not only for their academic excellence but also for their determination and commitment in an increasingly competitive environment.

Dharamshala event sets high benchmark

The inaugural event in Dharamshala witnessed an enthusiastic turnout of over 1,000 students, parents, teachers and dignitaries. Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri graced the occasion as chief guest, felicitating around 650 students who scored 85% and above in their Class 10 and 12 board examinations.

Speaking at the event, Agnihotri called the platform “a celebration of ambition, discipline and vision” and encouraged students to “aim for the highest goal” and contribute to the state’s progress.

More than just awards —Mission for student well-being

Conceptualised by The Newz Radar, Himachal Pradesh’s leading and only English digital news platform, the Shining Star Awards 3.0 is not just an award ceremony but a movement dedicated to uplifting and recognising young achievers.

Supported by Guru Study Centre-Dharamshala and co-powered by Arni University, HIET Group of Institutions, Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun; P3Y, Soul Frame-Dharamshala and the HPPCL, the awards series continues to grow in both reach and impact.

The Shining Star Awards 3.0 continues the successful legacy of the 2023 and 2024 editions, celebrating perseverance, hard work and academic excellence among Himachali youth. The initiative, conceptualised by The Newz Radar, the state’s first and only English digital news platform, is dedicated to fostering student well-being and excellence beyond academics.

Sunil Chadha, Executive Editor of The Newz Radar, emphasised the larger goal behind the awards: “We are here not only to applaud merit but to build a future with these bright minds. These stars are our strength, and this recognition is just the beginning.”

Echoing this sentiment, Political Editor S Gopal Puri said, “Behind every student’s success is the constant support of their parents. Today’s event is also a tribute to them.”
The Newz Radar also underscored its year-round commitment to students’ mental, emotional and physical well-being. “When board results are announced, it becomes the perfect time to connect with students, understand their aspirations, and offer support where needed,” said Abhinav Sharma, Head of Human Resources at The Newz Radar.

With Dharamshala setting the benchmark for the season, Shining Star Awards 3.0 will soon travel to other districts across Himachal Pradesh, continuing its mission of recognition and encouragement.
