Amid Dalhousie blackout, some residents found using power generators; admn issues strict warning

Dalhousie, Chamba: In light of Chamba district’s strategic borders with Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir, heightened security measures were undertaken last night in Dalhousie and nearby areas.

A complete blackout was enforced across the region as a precautionary step to ensure public safety.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Anil Bhardwaj and Station House Officer (SHO) Jagbir remained on patrol duty late into the night, keeping a close watch on the situation. Their presence ensured that both the civil and police administrations remained on high alert throughout the operation.

Addressing the public, SDM Bhardwaj and SHO Jagbir urged residents not to spread misinformation or upload misleading videos that could cause panic among the population. They emphasised the importance of maintaining calm and adhering strictly to official instructions.

Despite the blackout orders, officials noted that some residents continued using generators and electricity, which was described as a serious lapse in security compliance. Authorities have now appealed to the public to strictly follow directives issued during blackouts or any other emergency measures.

Residents have also been requested to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity or unidentified objects to local authorities. In addition to civilian safety, enhanced police presence has been deployed, especially in sensitive zones of Dalhousie, where additional checkpoints have been established.

The administration reassured tourists and locals alike that all possible steps are being taken to ensure peace and safety in the region.
