Celebrating Sustainability: Tourism Week at CUHP

Tourism Society, Central University of Himachal Pradesh under the esteemed leadership of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Sat Prakash Bansal, will be celebrating Tourism Week 2025 from 22nd to 27th September.

This year’s celebrations are aligned with the UN Tourism’s theme for 2025 –”Tourism and Sustainable Transformation”– emphasizing the vital role of tourism in fostering environmental responsibility, cultural preservation, and inclusive growth.Tourism Week at the university has been a cherished tradition for over a decade, highlighting the institution’s commitment to experiential learning and sustainable tourism development.


The week-long celebration will feature a vibrant array of academic and cultural events including Heritage Trail exploring local historical landmarks, Nukkad Natak on sustainability themes, Special Seminar featuring a renowned Greek archaeologist,Declamation competition, Educational Visit to a Waste Treatment Plant, Tree Plantation Drive in the university’s adopted village, Field Visit to the historic Kotla Fort, Stakeholders’ Conclave bringing together industry professionals, policymakers, and academicians.

These events are being organized under the academic guidance of the distinguished Dean, School of Tourism, Travel and of Hospitality Management, Prof. Suman Sharma, and the visionary leadership of Director Prof. Sandeep Kulshreshtha. The Head of the Department, Prof. Ashish Nag, has been instrumental in curating activities that blend sustainability with student engagement.


This year the event is being convened by Dr. Debashis Sahoo, with the enthusiastic support of Co-Convenor Dr. Amit Gangotia.Tourism Week 2025 promises to be an enriching experience for all stakeholders, aiming to inspire future tourism professionals to become agents of sustainable change.
