Dharamshala: BJP MLA Sudhir Sharma has reacted to the recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids in Himachal Pradesh, clarifying on Friday that his videos criticizing the government were solely meant to raise public awareness and had no connection to the ED’s actions. The raids took place on Wednesday this week at various places in state.
“My videos were just for awareness. ED teams are doing their own task. I had created those videos just to create awareness among masses on the happenings taking place in the state,” said Sharma. He made these remarks while celebrating his birthday with supporters in the Chetru area near Dharamshala.
Sharma did not respond to questions about rumors of his visit to the ED office in Delhi, which had circulated widely on social media recently. However, the state government had responded to these rumors by filing FIRs against several journalists for reporting them on their social media platforms.
The ED had conducted raids on Wednesday, targeting premises linked to prominent Congress leaders in the state, including RS Bali, a close aide of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. The central agency’s actions have sparked widespread discussion, especially since the ED teams arrived in Kangra, considered the political capital of Himachal Pradesh.
The ED’s activities began in the home constituency of the Chief Minister at Nadaun few days back. Media reports have identified two individuals, Gyan Chand and Prabhat Chand, as being investigated by the ED.
“ED used the same tactic in Delhi, first targeting close aides of the Chief Minister before reaching Kejriwal,” was a common sentiment overheard at a local tea stalls near the police grounds in Dharamshala on Friday evening. It is not known who is spreading such things in masses that ED’s move was politically motivated. However, as per records ED had come for investigations in a health scheme Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna.
