Shimla: Several Congress leaders in Himachal Pradesh are learnt to have expressed their frustration over being sidelined by ministers in the state government, alleging that even small tasks were not being completed.

The concerns were raised during a meeting held at Congress headquarters Rajiv Bhawan in Shimla under the leadership of the new AICC state in-charge, Rajani Patil.

During the meeting, Congress leaders who were unable to win Assembly elections and other party leaders voiced their disappointment, stating that they had been struggling for the past two years to get their concerns addressed.

Some leaders claimed they were not even allowed entry into the state secretariat and ministers remained inaccessible. Issues such as budget constraints and delays in developmental projects due to financial restrictions imposed by the Centre were also discussed.

Coordination committee to bridge party-government gap

Acknowledging the grievances, Rajani Patil announced that a coordination committee would be formed to resolve political matters and improve communication between the party and the government.
She assured that a final decision on this would be taken after discussions with the Congress high command in Delhi.

Additionally, to ensure better accessibility for party workers, Patil stated that at least one minister would be required to be present at the Congress headquarters once a week. This move aims to reduce the need for party members to visit the secretariat for their concerns.

New Congress executive in 15 days, ‘one person, one post’ rule to apply

Patil also announced that the formation of the new Himachal Pradesh Congress executive would be completed within 15 days.

The “one person, one post” rule will be strictly enforced, ensuring that leaders holding government positions do not hold party posts.

However, she clarified that state Congress president Pratibha Singh would continue in her role, dismissing any speculation about a leadership change.

Despite the internal grievances, Patil maintained that the Congress government in Himachal remained strong and would aim to break the trend of power switching every five years. She assured that the issues raised by party leaders would be addressed through dialogue and better coordination.
